We are delighted to welcome the new Master’s () and PhD students joining our group this semester. Their arrival brings fresh perspectives, diverse academic backgrounds, and new research interests to the team.
As they begin this new stage of their academic journey, we look forward to seeing them contribute to ongoing projects, explore new research directions, and engage actively with other members of the group. We also hope that the group will provide a supportive and collaborative environment for them to develop their research skills, exchange ideas, and grow as young researchers.
We are very happy to have them with us and wish all our new members a productive, rewarding, and enjoyable experience in the group.

We are pleased to share that Prof. Weiyi Pan has secured funding through the NUS–Duke University Joint Sustainability Research Initiative and will serve as the NUS Lead PI for the project “Advancing Geothermal Energy by Integrating Brine Management and Critical Mineral Co-Products.”
The project brings together researchers from NUS and Duke University to develop geochemistry-guided membrane separation strategies for geothermal brine management and critical mineral recovery. This award further strengthens our group’s research in membrane separation, resource recovery, and sustainable water technologies.

Our group recently organized a gathering lunch to welcome Dr. Shuaishuai Li as a new Research Fellow and to bid farewell to Rao Wenqing, who joined the group as an undergraduate visiting student. The event provided a valuable opportunity for members to connect and share their best wishes. We warmly welcome Dr. Li to the group and look forward to his contributions to our research activities. We also thank Wenqing for her participation and contributions during her time with us, and wish her continued success in the future.
April 14th, 2026.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Shuaishuai Li to our group as a Research Fellow. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Nankai University and has built strong expertise in water pollution control, functional environmental materials, and electrochemical resource recovery. His research experience also covers advanced oxidation processes, electrosynthesis, and the remediation of organic pollutants and high-salinity wastewater. We look forward to his contributions to the group’s research in sustainable water treatment and environmental technologies.

Our lab kicked off our first group activity with a visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The National Orchid Garden was a definite highlight, and it was wonderful to see such a vibrant crowd appreciating the lush greenery around us.

We warmly welcome Samidurai Yazhini to our group. She joins us as a Graduate Student in Environmental Engineering and is interested in water systems, sustainability, and environmental research. We are excited to have her on board and look forward to her future contributions.

Weiyi has accepted the offer to join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore as an Assistant Professor, starting August 1, 2025.
