Dr. Weiyi Pan will join the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore in August 2025.
Growing up near Taihu Lake, which is China’s third-largest freshwater lake. Weiyi developed a deep appreciation for water as more than a resource: it is essential to communities, industry, and ecosystems. He believes that addressing water challenges requires looking beyond the water sector itself, recognizing its deep connections to public health, energy, agriculture, and the environment.
With this perspective, Weiyi will establish the Pan Lab to tackle critical water issues through an interdisciplinary systems lens.
Outside of research, Weiyi enjoys gym workouts, basketball, and outdoor adventures. He’s also a lifelong enthusiast of coffee and tea.
